I’m Shikha Advani (she/her), a doctoral student at the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver. I hold a master’s in nutrition from Boston University and a Master of Social Work from Simmons University. My research focuses on the intersections of eating disorders, weight stigma, decolonization, and grief. As a South Asian, trauma survivor, and eating disorder survivor, I bring lived experience to both my clinical work and research. I currently work as an eating disorder therapist supporting individuals with complex trauma and marginalized identities. My goal is to bridge clinical and academic spaces by centering lived experience and advancing anti-oppression and decolonial approaches in eating disorder treatment, research, and education.
