About The Eating Disorders Education Institute
At The Eating Disorders Education Institute, we believe everyone, regardless of body size, background, or identity, deserves accessible, compassionate, evidence-informed eating-disorder care.
Who We Are
The Eating Disorders Education Institute was founded by practitioners, educators, and individuals with lived experience who saw that traditional clinical education doesn’t match the realities of eating-disorder treatment. We combine evidence-based knowledge, clinical wisdom, and real-world experience to create training that is humanistic, compassionate, culturally competent, and reflective of how eating disorders manifest in diverse communities.
Our mission is to close the gap between what providers want and what they’re trained to deliver. With 92% of providers missing patients with eating disorders, comprehensive and inclusive education is urgent.
A gap in education is resulting in a gap in care.
We’re here to change that.
What We Do
All programs are continually reviewed to ensure they reflect the latest research, evolving clinical standards, and the changing needs of the field.
Our Curriculum Includes:
- Micro-certifications
- Specialized certifications for adolescent eating disorders
- Courses for clinicians and the general public
- Cultural competency training focused on inclusive, weight-neutral care
Who We Serve
Whether you are:
- A clinician seeing patients with eating disorders 80% of the time
- A practitioner pursuing or currently holding a CEDS (IAEDP) certification
- A mental-health professional with a Master’s degree seeking to expand your knowledge
- A high-school guidance counselor, coach, or community leader wanting foundational skills
The Eating Disorders Education Institute provides a pathway for you.
We honor previous investments in certifications and training; if you are already actively engaged in a certificate, we will recognize and transfer what you’ve earned.

How We Teach
The Eating Disorders Education Institute courses are delivered on our accessible CANVAS platform, with features like:
- Dyslexia-friendly fonts
- Multilingual content access
- Self-paced learning
- “Confirm Understanding” check-ins rather than traditional tests
- Courses led by experienced practitioners
- Six expert-led courses taken alongside a live practicum (three hours of small-group learning facilitated by The Eating Disorders Education Institute-trained practitioners)
Our first phase launches with a comprehensive 101-level curriculum designed and taught by experts. For those who regularly see eating-disorder patients, the curriculum and practicum can be taken simultaneously. CEDS candidates can integrate their The Eating Disorders Education Institute curriculum with practicum requirements, and non-clinical learners can participate in select courses without the practicum component.
