she/her

Dr. Amy Boyers is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than two decades of experience treating eating disorders and training the clinicians who treat them. She is the founder and president of Galen Hope, a Miami-based treatment center specializing in eating disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, and behavioral health for adolescents and adults.

A significant part of Dr. Boyers’ career has centered on developing other therapists. She holds adjunct faculty appointments at the University of Miami Counseling Center and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry, where she has mentored clinicians in eating disorder care. Her clinical training began in intensive outpatient settings, including a residency as a primary therapist at The Renfrew Center, giving her deep, hands-on grounding in the practicum and supervised-practice environments where new specialists are formed.

Dr. Boyers earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical health psychology from the University of Miami and her bachelor’s in psychology, with honors, from the University of Pennsylvania. She is also a Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist through the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and served as founding president of the Miami chapter of the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP), later sitting on its national board.

Known for taking on complex cases that have not achieved full recovery in other settings, Dr. Boyers brings to her teaching a practitioner’s command of how clinical skill is built, supervised, and sustained over a career.
